Modern society is constantly developing in conditions of rapid changes: transformations cover the political sphere of our life, economy, culture and technology. In these conditions it is sociology that becomes the key to understanding the processes taking place. It allows you to identify social trends and patterns, analyze their impact on human life and society as a whole. Sociological research plays an important role in solving current social issues: it helps to identify their origins, uncover their causes and consequences, and offer practical recommendations and ways to overcome them.
The student scientific association "Sociologist" was founded in 2000 on the basis of the department of political science and sociology with the active assistance of the department of educational work of Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University.
Over the years the circle has been headed by:

In 2023–2024 the head of this association became Alina Krizhevskaya, a trainee teacher. Currently the management is carried out by Yuri Lutsa, a trainee teacher at the department of theory of law and socio-political disciplines.
The participants of this association are students of the faculty of economics and law, studying in the specialty “Sociology”. Since 2021 they have been joined by students of the social communications direction, which has expanded the scientific and educational space of the circle.
The purpose of the circle is a practice-oriented scientific activity of students.

- Discussion of current sociological issues and their impact on society and individuals;

During its existence it has conducted numerous sociological studies on various problematic aspects of students' lives, which allows the university administration to monitor these problems, identify their trends and changes, and make timely and effective decisions. According to these results of the conducted research, analytical notes are sent to the department for educational work with youth, the data of which are published as materials for official use.
A research group of students is also being led to write student papers for the Republican Student Research Competition. Every year students take part in student scientific conferences, round tables dedicated to the day of the Sociologist, thematic meetings, etc.
